Grading Overview
Your math grade will be averaged using the following assignment values
Summative (quizzes, tests, math tasks, projects) – 60%
Formative (guided and independent assignments) – 30%
Brain Work – 10% (Brain work will consist of activities done both in and outside of the classroom setting to strengthen our brains in the area of math. Sometimes we will be reviewing concepts from earlier in the year or from previous years and sometimes we will be working on practicing our current math skills.)
Test and Quiz Policy: All summative assessments will be graded on a 5 point rubric. This allows us to focus more on a student’s level of mastery and less on the percentage score. Any student who earns less than a 3 (less than a 73%) on a summative assessment will have the opportunity to revisit that math concept (either independently or through tutoring) and complete a graded activity to increase their rubric score to a maximum of 3.
Brainwork: A weekly brainwork calendar will be assigned. Assignment information can be found on my Google Calendar located on my website and on your child’s Google Classroom.
TUTORING
Students will have the opportunity for tutoring during the Extended Learning Time (ELT) rotation which occurs after period two on most days. Students may request to be pulled for tutoring.
